Empowering others by creating an inclusive and positive atmosphere are qualities that I work to incorporate in my leadership style. I serve as a student ambassador for the WSU CAHNRS college and was elected to the executive board as secretary. As an ambassador, I engage with potential new students to spark their interest in food science and college as a whole. I have taken different approaches and tailored information according to the dynamics of the groups that attend our interactive showcases. Working as an ambassador has been a wonderful opportunity to publicize the diverse majors in the CAHNRS college and to enhance my leadership skills.
I am passionate about the environment and preserving its irreplaceable beauty. I learned about the magnitude of environmental destruction from the production of red meats through my classes and independent research. Cattle produce numerous environmental hazards, producing vast quantities of methane, destruction of environments for grazing land, using extensive resources of feed and water. One third of farmable land is used to produce feed for cattle that could be used to feed people. Current research makes it clear our world would be more sustainable adopting a vegetarian lifestyle. Additionally, I was struggling with speech and reading, which only exacerbated my anxiety. As I grew older, my fear grew progressively worse. My parents helped me to control my fear, encouraging me to join the Toastmasters Club. My mother was always there for me through the struggle. She strategized with me and taught me to visualize success and develop positive thinking. I learned that it's possible to overcome challenges through hard work and perseverance. I'm still uncomfortable about public speaking, however, I have conquered my anxiety by implementing the skills I have
