Famighetti, a professor of environmental engineering and a leading hydrologist, believes that environmental engineers “can take steps to manage our way through this global crisis and ensure a sustainable water future for everyone”. Environmental engineers have the opportunity to help bring fresh, clean water to all people including children in small African villages who are forced to walk countless miles for hours each day to get fresh water (Hand 46).
