Calvin Coolidge is a man who really knows the true value of leadership and sacrifice. He was willing to sacrifice his own political career to call the national guard to end the 1919 police strike. Coolidge was told signing and allowing the national guard to converge is political suicide. All he said was “ Perhaps you are right”. To me this means he was a true leader sacrificing his political career in order for people to stop fighting and restore peace. In today’s society we need more leadership like that, so we can grow up in a better society

Coolidge passed the Indian Citizenship Act, which freed all Indians and granted them american citizenship. He even said in a speech that he thanks the immigrants for their work in society. Calvin Coolidge also supported African Americans said in his first Inaugural Address that “just as sacred as those of any other citizen”. He supported African Americans and their fight for freedom. This is very important in today’s society because Coolidge shows that everyone deserves equal rights. Everything you here in today’s media is about how there is still racism, and Donald Trump building a wall to keep out illegal immigrants. If coolidge was president, there would be peace for everyone. It was the end of World War One, so as a award for the troops that served in the war; he pushed legislation to give these soldiers a one hundred dollar bonus for their service. Presidents should be like Coolidge when it comes to our troops because these are the guys that fight for our freedom.

Coolidge is a family man, so he understands why the wife and kids must work. In order for families not to work long, he passed a bill that decreased the amount of hours kids and house wives have to work. When Coolidge passed this bill while he was Governor of Massachusetts, he was a very busy man. He knew the importance of passing this bill. If this is done today to the workforce, mothers and fathers can spend more time with their families. It can also provide a less stressful life.

Calvin Coolidge was also a lawyer. He had to know how to fight for people in court. This meant that he knew a lot about court and law. A president that is a lawyer knows what he’s doing because he has experience in the courtroom. A president today that is a lawyer would show that he knows law and make the right choices when it comes to laws and bill that deal with crime. Also, a lawyer as a president shows he is a hard worker and willing to do anything to protect the justice system we have
