Alfie Kohn once said “Children, after all, are not just adults-in-the-making. They are people whose current needs and rights and experiences must be taken seriously”. Our future is in the hands of these young juvenile delinquents and we need to take action. We need to turn their lives around before we end up with World War III. Wouldn't you want our kids to live in a secure future? The detention center that I run will prevail on the minds of these children and change their mindset on their life choices for the better. This is because my methods of discipline are strict, effective and influential. It's harmless, it works, and it builds their character. Attending Camp Green Lake not only changes the mindset of these boys but it also develops their personality. This is important because teenage years are the most fun but also one of the most important in a person's life. It is the time when you discover yourself and choose what kind of person you want to be. You make a lot of mistakes as a teenager but the significant thing to do is to learn from them so you won’t repeat that mistake. Digging holes isn’t the only thing we do at Camp Green Lake. In fact, the boys have plenty of time to relax in their cabins, go to the recreational room, or socialise with others. For instance, on some nights, the counselor and a group of boys sit in a circle and talk. These talks are the equivalent of a support group. I am convinced that this helps the boys by encouraging them to think about their future and what they want to be when they grow up.
