Holes by Louis Sachar was a very fascinating story. I honestly can stay I loved reading it and enjoyed every minute of it. I also had the honor of attending the theatrical performance of this story put on by Buena High School’s theater program in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Those kids did a great job portraying everything from the book and bringing it to life. Some of the things that occured in Holes were extraordinary for example the opening starts when a young Stanley Yelnats has been sent to a juvenile correction camp called Camp Green Lake. young boys got sent to this camp to get taught a lesson. One bite from these lizards and you would be dead. Stanley had always had bad luck which is exactly how he wound up in trouble with the law. Stanley made a couple of friends while at Camp Green Lake, one being a shy, uneducated kid named Zero. Since Stanley was good at reading and Zero liked digging holes they made a deal. If Stanley would teach Zero school things than Zero would help Stanley dig his hole for one hour. They did this for a little bit until the other boys ratted them out because they thought they would get the day off from digging. It did not work out that way. The boys broke into a fight and Zero wound up running away. The next day Stanley took off to find Zero and bring him back to camp. It turns out that the two boys ancestors were connected. Stanley’s great great grandfather had stolen from Zero’s great great grandmother. The boys had found the onion farm that had once brought the town great wealth. It turned out that the onions are what kept the yellow-spotted lizards away. The boys returned to camp and began digging a hole where Stanley had
