Canada had many cases when they were peacemakers like when Canada joined the UN’s peacekeeping mission to send 40,000 loyal troops to the balkans to save many lives. Canada also had many cases when they were warriors like when they battled against Germany in World War 1. Canada either went out to fight their enemy or they went out to rebuild lives and help the innocent for the greater good. Canada. So the real question is, was Canada a peacekeeper or a warrior in the post-war period?

(Government of Canada, 2014) Canada again noticed this horrifying genocide and decided to join a peacekeeping mission run by the UN. (Government of Canada, 2014)Two Canadians served as the commanders of the peacekeeping mission, Romeo Dallaire and Guy Tousignant. (Government of Canada, 2014) The peacekeeping force helped with mine clearing, refugee settlement and delivering supplies. By april 1994, the Hutus went on a killing massacre against the Tutsi that resulted in over 500,000 deaths. ‘I know there is a God because in Rwanda I shook hands with the devil. I have seen him, I have smelled him and I have touched him. I know the devil exists, and therefore I know there is a God.’ (Romeo Dallaire, 1994) Millions of Rwandans died in this war and more than 400 noble Canadian peacekeepers gave their life. (Government of Canada, 2014) Death became a desired option. ‘I hoped I would hit a mine or run into an ambush and just end it all. I think some part of me wanted to join the legions of the dead, whom I had failed.’ (Romeo Dallaire, 1994) Canada was clear peacekeeper in this conflict and helped and tried their best to restore and end the bloodshed in
