10. Americans: MG Fredendall’s verbal orders were often vague and imprecise. (While a quote was an attempt at OPSEC over the phone, it was simply too unorthodox to be considered a proper movement order for an entire brigade sized element. Other examples also exist of Fredendall’s imprecise manner such as: “Go get ‘em at once….Go smash ‘em” and: “Everything is rosy”, the troops “went to town”).
MacDonald detailed several instances throughout Company Commander where he internally second-guessed himself after giving a particular order. Personal turmoil pepper his account of the campaign, and provide a glimpse into the mindset of a young, inexperienced officer during a tumultuous time. Part of being an effective leader is recognizing the inadequacies not only within yourself, but within your
Candidate Shealy was able to brief an almost complete five paragraph order with a calm and confident delivery. SNC did not brief admin and logistics or command and signal but briefed all other paragraphs. During the briefing, he made eye contact with his fire team and had grabbed each member while tasking them to ensure they knew he was addressing them directly and also oriented them to the problem by showing it to them during the brief. The quick transition from the brief to execution demonstrated the clarity and quality of SNC’s briefing. While negotiating the obstacles, SNC continuously requested feedback from his fire team members and included them in his next decision.
SNC’s five paragraph order contained most of the pertinent information required to conduct the mission with the exception of the Situation paragraph. SNC briefed fabricated information regarding friendly units and failed to brief second squad was in dire need of ammunition and sustaining heavy casualties; this information which was mission essential. During movement to the objective, SNC ensured his squad maintained adequate dispersion and on one allowed the ammunition-bearing fire team to fall behind; a deficiency SNC corrected. During enemy contact, SNC proceeded to assess a casualty rather than task his fire team leader and continue leading his squad.
A woman that encountered many obstacles through life, because of her gender dissimilarity was Sandra O’Connor. O’Conner was born in the city of El Paso, Texas in 1930 and her parents were Harry A. Day and Ada Mae Wilkey Day. In 1952, she got married to John Jay O’Connor III and had three sons: Scott, Brian, and Jay. O’Conner decided to become someone better in life even though that during the 1950s it was difficult to obtain an education.
Candidate Dupuy did not, however, fully appreciate the need to move quickly. The fire team lacked the
Candidate Oestreich did not brief higher or supporting in his friendly paragraph. He provided thorough tasks to his team members, giving them clear guidance with task and purpose. SNC also briefed additional information in his coordinating instructions such as base unit and order of march. Once execution commenced, the candidates briefed scheme of manuever and tasks which allowed his team to quickly become oriented to the obstacle and make initial progress. When the SNC first encountered initial friction, the team leader faltered momentarily to adapt his plan and then promptly applied corrections.
Subordinates may fail to recognize the order given by a superior. In a worst-case scenario, the superior may not heed the concerns brought up by a man under his control resulting in an accident. It is imperative that all parties carefully consider all statements made in an indirect manner to ensure that no instructions, expectations, or tasks have slipped through the cracks. In other societies around the world, the most accepted idea to giving orders is that the less instruction given the better. This is believed to show that the individual is mature, intellectual, capable of reading into a situation, while also seeing the higher purpose.
He wheeled his horse to canter away… Uncle Jim saluted, ‘Very good, sir. I’ll bring the company up. May I suggest we go slowly, sir, to keep the men in hand?’ ‘Of course Sergeant Major.
Conal Buchanan is one of the only students with extreme intellectual ability to give high school their best effort. I usually see students with Conal’s abilities get bored at school. Boredom causes their interest and effort to wane. Conal’s effort and attitude have remained stellar all the way through high school.
Flight commander will be rotated through starting with 200s. Flights will be competing to rotate through as many flight commanders as possible using proper reporting procedures. Flight commanders will be responsible for performing three station motions (such as left/right face), three column movements (such as left/right column or half column movements), and three flanking movements (such as left/right flank). Incorrect movements will not count and will be at the discretion of flight commander evaluators.
Inspiring faith in her competence as a leader. “...in the midst and heat of battle...” She acknowledges the reality of the situation they are about to dive headfirst into. The war was not going to be any simple task. She understands that. “...to or die amongst you all...”, “...I myself will take up arms...”, she tells them.
The Quinnipiac usually spoke quiripi and Algonquian. Which would be the native languages for the people living in the parts and regions that they lived in. Also found in the tribes of Unquachog, Mattabesic, Podunk, Tunxis, and Paugussett. It has been effectively extinct since the end of the 18th
I chose to counsel a 3/C midshipmen who is in my squad this semester. As a fire team leader I have been fortunate to have been given many opportunities to counsel numerous midshipmen in my fire team. After my initial counseling session with the 3/C, I was able to figure out the basics such as, CQPR, ECA, aptitude, conduct grade. When this assignment presented itself to me I realized that I could use this to make significant strides on this particular 3/C midshipmen. I had decided to peruse this 3/C because her conduct and aptitude grade had fallen significantly since last semester.
With other officers and supervisors, in emergency situations for example, statements and actions need to be clear and concise to get proper responses for certain circumstances. If a fight started within the prison among the inmates and I am the first responder, I need to provide distinct information over the radio to summon assistance to the area needed, while also giving verbal commands to all inmates to stop participating in the fight. If I could not aptly communicate what is needed from staff and inmates, I cannot effectively do my
