SNC’s Orientation Paragraph consisted only of a current location of Brown Field and no other pertinent elements. SNC’s Situation Paragraph contained no Enemy sub-paragraph, a poorly formed incorrect friendly situation, and a vague overview of the fire team’s mission; SNC’s vague description of the mission in the Situation Paragraph was explained differently two times and bled directly into SNC’s Execution paragraph. SNC’s coordinating instructions, tasks and scheme of maneuver were confusing, mixed together and were being made up as SNC was briefing. SNC’s tasking statements contained no purpose.
SNC failed to address security prior to beginning his five paragraph order but tasked a subordinate to provide security only after the brief was concluded. The Orientation paragraph contained minimal information. SNC’s stated “We are operating to get this over there” was his Scheme of Maneuver portion, which was confusing and overly general. SNC failed to assign tasks and addressed minimal portions of the Admin and Logistics paragraph. SNC adequately addressed the remainder of the order, which made sense and was briefed with confidence.

Employers these days aren’t looking for the traditional traits many people think to prepare for when looking for a job. Although there are several different traits that are becoming more important and useful in the workplace, one trait that continues to stick out through the changing times is effective communication. Last summer, I was hired as an intern at a company that gave me the opportunity to work with a variety of people, from fellow interns to C-levels. While working with the different leveled employees, I gained experience in communication that helped me grow into the strong potential employee I am today.
