Probation Officer A Probation Officer is a person who works with people who are claimed to have done a crime and sent to probation instead of somewhere else. They assist the courts in the investigation and backgrounds. A Probation Officer also assist in determining the sentence and supervision of the offender who has probation. A probation officer can be in charge of adults and children.
A Probation Officer has to have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, sociology, psychology or an related field. That means four years of college. Good colleges to go to, to be a good probation officer are; Albright College and Eastern Washington University. If a Probation Officer wants to advance in his career, they must get a master’s degree. A probation officer must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver's license. You must be able to pass an exam, a criminal background check, and a drug test. Some colleges will want you to complete an internship in order to graduate. Probation Officers can have careers in cities, counties, states, and jobs at the federal level. Not all cities have a probation officer, but if not, they can get one from the county level.

Since your clients have to check in often with you, you are able to stay on top of what they are doing, and help them stay on track. It can also be a dangerous job because many people do not want to change for the better. Many people on probation have a drug problem, and are not willing to stop the drugs. Although it requires many skills and many hours of college, it is a good career to have. You will make enough money to support your family and always have a steady and guaranteed
