Career Research Project: Part 4 I originally wanted to interview a lawyer for this assignment because of my interest in it. However, after many inquiries into the availabilities of several lawyers, I realized that getting an interview with them in time for my assignment to be due was not going to be possible, so I went with my Plan B job. My Plan B job is a job that I have wanted for a long time but had planned to have long in the future because of what I believed I needed to have before I could get this Plan B job. However, after my interview and some additional research, I realized that I might get to it sooner than anticipated. One of the most important things that I learned is that not everybody’s struggle is the same. Dr. Folarin told me about the different struggles of owning/previously owning a diverse set of businesses. I also learned about the similarities of some businesses in terms of struggle and reward. Dr. Folarin informed that one of the biggest struggles of owning a business is getting enough customers into a business. I learned that getting the word out about something is not always easy and that you have to find the right platform to do so. Another struggle is that not all businesses can weather a recession or a down economy as well as some others. I did get to learn about some of the joys of owning a business. The biggest ones were the flexibility of scheduling since business owners set their own hours, which varies from business to business. Business owners also get control over their location and the platform under which they want their business to be. They also get to have control over who they hire and how much they want to make. However, one of the most important positives to owning your own business is the job security that comes with it because you know you will never be fired, unless you start a corporation. I think it is important to note that not all businesses will succeed and that some businesses even operate at a loss for the first few years. While doing
