This was the 11th straight time the Cavaliers have lost in Heat and it’s something that doesn’t sit well with James. I founded CAVS 4 VETS after my dad and I had the honor of hosting several veterans from the Wounded Warrior project on our deer lease. After my time with them, I knew my teammates and I could do something to give back to these veterans and others that fought and sacrificed for our freedoms. Lake Travis High School strongly encourages community service, but I wanted to start something that directly benefits our Central Texas Veterans. Cavs 4
Dellavedova held the NBA MVP Stephen Curry to an average of 10.1 points per 100 possessions compared to the 20.7 points when Dellavedova was on the bench. In the Game 5 win over the Warriors Dellavedova held Curry to 19 points and forced Curry into 6 turnovers, BUT defense is only half of basketball. Those same people believe that Matthew Dellavedova should
Popular writer and sports columnist, Bill Simmons, in his article, “LeBron is Still Painting his Masterpiece”, describes the current state of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and compares the careers of two of the greatest players in the league’s history: Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Simmons’ purpose is to show the effects of being driven by competition and how that has brought James into the discussion for the greatest basketball player of all time. He adopts a comic tone in order to amuse and entertain the reader, but also to establish a common ground with the reader in order for them to consider his inquiry that consistent, continuous competition has been the catalyst for bringing James into the discussion for the greatest of
Not only is LeBron a tremendous athlete his locker room presence is important. He knew what the city of Cleveland wanted and he understood the pressure. James is also a veteran and has been through it before. Peyton Manning led the Broncos
After a 30 second timeout, the ball was in bounds and as expected, given to Lebron James. The Spurs swarmed him as he stood at the three-point line to shoot the ball. When the ball left his hands, the arena went silent and everyone stood to their feet. The ball hit the rim,

The Untold Truth Between The NBA and Royce White Sam Riches, in the article, How the NBA Failed Royce White (2017), explains that the NBA missed out on a potential star in Royce White by failing to provide a mental health protocol for players and only focusing on the money granted to players. Riches supports his claim through his use of anecdotes and pathos. The purpose of this piece is to show that there is a lack of mental health treatment in the NBA in order to inform readers on the money making over the well-being of the players’ care. Riches makes great use of anecdotes to further extend his claim as to how the NBA failed Royce White.
There is a lot of talk that there are many fines and ways to punish an athlete or official for some sort of misconduct that they have done. One instant that shows that the NBA ended up not implanting a strict enough punishment was with Donald Sterling. The NBA commissioner stated that, “Donald Sterling has been banned for life by the NBA in response to racist comments that he made, also he will be forced to sell the franchise and a fine of $2.5 million.” The NBA was going the right path because they were punishing someone for racist comments. Being banned and forced to sell the Clippers franchise was a perfect example of the consequences that might come if you engage in racist activities or say racist comments.
Person would not agree with his actions if he wasn’t one of the people receiving these cash payments because he would be compelled to look at the immoral aspects of his actions and the trust he shattered with his players. These NBA-bound players have the brightest futures ahead of them and are looking to their superiors for guidance. If Person were to turn the circumstances on himself and remember the time he entered the NBA, he would be enraged if his success and talent was taken for granted in order for his coach to make a little extra cash. He should’ve reflected on this situation when choosing to accept the payments and participate in these immoral acts. Person’s lack of a moral compass and his inability to differentiate between right and wrong has been the main cause of his decline as a leader and a

Ex-Basketball player by John Updike is a poem about Flick Webb. Flick is a mechanic that was a superstar athlete in highschool. Flick wasn't the smartest so he didn't do well in school. Because he didn't do well in school he only became a mechanic and lives in the same town as he did in highschool. I think that the message of the story is that just because you're a great athlete you still have to try hard in school so if sports don't work out then you have a backup option.
Students need to know the choices that you make not only portray how people view you, but those decisions also decide who you are as an individual. The Decisions you make influence the way people view you as a person. As depicted in To Kill A Mockingbird when Atticus chooses to defend a black man named Tom Robinson. In the novel, Scout was in the schoolyard when Cecil Jacobs proclaimed Atticus as a disgrace to the county, “Cecil Jacobs made me forget.
In John Updike’s poem “Ex-Basketball Player” the poet uses literary devices to depict the existing way of life of a once-famous sportsperson. Flick Webb was in before times a gifted athlete on his high school basketball team, and he was commendable of much awe. However, Flick never acquired any other skills to prepare him for a future. Accordingly, he now is locked into an unskilled job and his former glories have pale to all but Flick himself. Updike has created a character that is at this point in time going nowhere and spends most of his time thinking about his former days of glory.
Kevin Durant to agent after leaving OKC: 'Why the f— did you let me do this to my life?' This is very rude and tells me as a person he doesn't admit to his mistakes he wanted to go to the GSW or else he would of told his agent to sign a deal in free agency to stay at OKC instead he blames it on his agent. "Well, I think every decision is different. My decision to leave Cleveland to go to Miami and then go back is different from Kevin Durant leaving OKC” This was lebron James.
