The central focus of my learning segment is about the two Indians tribes the Algonquin and the Iroquois. The content will be focused on the two tribes, their way of life, where they lived, and their different cultures. The goal of the unit is to teach notetaking skills that will last well into their future. Each lesson will touch on a different aspect of the tribe and will have embedded note taking strategies. Read alouds will be used to model the note taking strategies for the unit.
My knowledge of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. is that it was founded January 5th, 1911. The Fraternity was originally chartered under the name Kappa Alpha Nu, which is believed to be in honor the Alpha Kappa Nu club that began in 1903 but was short lived due to few registrants. Kappa Alpha Psi was founded by: Elder Watson Diggs, Ezra Dee Alexander, Byron Kenneth Armstrong, Henry Tourner Asher, Marcus Peter Blakemore, Paul Waymond Caine, George Wesley Edmonds, Guy Levis Grant, Edward Giles Irvin and John Milton Lee. The fraternity was founded on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. has 721 chapters in every state of the United States and has international chapter in various countries
The tenth National President, Dorothy I. Height, wrote: “To preserve tradition, we must bring it into the current decade and make sure it remains viable for decades to come.” Protocol is something mandatory for all sorority’s and fraternity’s. In Delta Sigma Theta protocol is prescribed as respect and recognition for founders, the Nation President and Past National Presidents, the Regional Director/Representative, Chapter Charter Members, and Honorary Members. It is a fact that every Sorority and Fraternity has some type of tradition. In Delta Sigma Theta there are three rites of passage.
During the eighteenth century and up until the nineteenth century, Greeks were under the control of the Ottoman Empire. It was during this time that nationalism and the idea that your people should have the best became really popular. Greeks in the Balkans and in Asia Minor decided to revolt against their rulers in March 1821, starting a nine-year war in search for their independence. When other European countries siding with them intervened, the Greeks finally gain their freedom. During the war, people formed opinions on the Greeks: some praised and sympathized with them while others didn’t.
A Girl into a Woman The University of Nevada, Reno supplies endless amounts of opportunities to get involved on and off campus, one being Greek Life. Greek Life consists of numerous fraternities and sororities who share common ideals, morals, values, and interests. The sorority I affiliate with is known as Delta Delta Delta, or most commonly known as Tri Delta. I am an active pledge of Tri Delta.
The purpose of this paper is to review and analyze student cultures in the book Pledged: The Secret Life of Sororities, by Alexandra Robbins. The book provides a glimpse of the historically white national sorority system and investigates their secret group behavior. In the United States and Canada, approximately 800 institutions host social Greek Life on their campuses (Long, 2012). These chapters within the Greek Life system promote the ideals of scholarship, leadership, service, and friendship. However, in the Robbins’ book and narrative of a sorority illustrates sorority life and negative realities of that system, such as rush, bid, racism, pledging, initiation, Greek Week, breaks-up and sexual assaults.
According to Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity Bylaws, Article XVI. , Section 2., “An association voting to disband shall give three months notice in writing of such intention to the District Director and Alumna Relations Specialist. At the end of this period, provided the request to disband has not been withdrawn, the charter shall be surrendered and the archives be sent to the Fraternity Headquarters. All remaining assets shall be transferred to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation.” When the Alumna Relations Specialist learns of an alumnae association’s desire to disband, she should contact the District Director.
The Group of Seven, first known as the Algonquin School, was a group of Canadian artists. Arthur Lismer is credited with naming the group which was founded in 1920 and lasted until 1933. The group’s purpose was to create an art style that broke European art traditions and raised awareness for the Canadian landscape. The original seven members were: They were later joined by A.J. Casson in 1926; Edwin Holgate in 1930; and LeMoine FitzGerald in 1932. When not painting on location, they all lived in Toronto and painted at The Studio Building at 25 Severn St. in Rosedale which Harris’ money helped to build.

Reforming an institution which has been built on heteronormativity takes time but as I read the stories of these alumni, I believe Holy Cross is on its
(Pg. 17). Either way, my curiosity is stemmed from the fact that I care. I value the idea of the sororities and respect
Greek’s began emigrating to America in the 1800’s in hopes of greater opportunity. With family at the center of every Greeks life they are very family oriented and often times have large families with multiple generations living under one roof. Searching for new challenges, immigrants found work in an array of fields such as coal miners, shoe shiners, and grocery markets. As entrepreneurs, the emigrant life was often a difficult road. With relatives starving and poor in their homeland, Greeks worked hard, not only for a better life for themselves and their families here in America, but also, for their relatives back home.

Our task is endless.” Jewel Henry Arthur Callis. Since its founding Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity has remained loyal to its ideal of providing advocacy for its community.
Fraternity members tend not to reach out to others and they are distant and reserved. They avoid large crowds but it does
