I interviewed James Oblinski, LPC, MS, MA, a Licensed Professional Counselor, with a Masters of Science, and a Masters of Art. He works as a therapist who directly works with children and family at the Bethesda Children’s Home. The children placed in this facility are court ordered and range between 11-18 years in age. James received his Bachelor’s degree at Penn State University and two master’s degrees at Mercyhurst and Edinboro University. I was extremely impressed with James’ qualifications and intensity with which he took his job seriously. The kids have a daily schedule planned every day and incorporated into that is a point system, with 4 different levels each client is expected to earn points based on the level they have currently reached. The point system gives each client 20 expectations everyday being able to earn a maximum of 3 points per expectation, while each day 60 total points are available to be earned for a maximum score of 420 points per week. Based on the level they are at they should score a certain number of points to keep on track to level up and maintain their privileges. If they have 3 days in a row where they do not earn 50 points, privileges are restricted.
