PROBLEM Does the Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, Members Mark, Cottonelle, Scott, or Charmin brand of toilet paper break apart the fastest in moving water? Does the brand Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, Members Mark, Cottonelle, Scott, or Charmin when wet hold the most pennies? Does the brand Quilted Northern, Angel Soft, Members Mark, Cottonelle, Scott, or Charmin hold the most pennies when dry? HYPOTHESIS My hypothesis is that Scott will break apart the fastest in moving water because Scott is one-ply and the thinnest of all the toilet paper. My second hypothesis is that Quilted Northern will hold the most pennies when wet because it is one of the thickest toilet papers.
In Jacob Riis’ revolutionary book How the Other Half Lives, Riis details the atrocious conditions of the tenements in New York City at the turn of the century. Riis particularly focusses his initial chapters on the formation of the tenements and their subsequent demise into filthy ruins. In many ways, these tenements paralleled the federal housing projects of the 1950’s. Both populations predominately included impoverished, working class immigrants and minorities. However, the tenements and the projects differ in terms of supportive communities.
In the article, I have selected to compare to my experience with the Mikes Bikes Simulator, was one that explained how a young man came across a deal to not only better himself, but also better the lives of those around him by targeting his business towards a certain group of people. The article goes on to explain how Trey Harris the owner of Colony Ridge Land was developing lots for homes in Plum Grove, a smaller town outside of Houston, by doing so it helped the Latino laborers find good quality homes that were up to code, at much more affordable rates. The cost of living was significantly lower because of these homes not being in such a large populated city as Houston. To attract the Latino laborers, he advertised the subdivisions, as Grand
The only place we could find had two 8’ by 10’ rooms, but we took it. We started up the 18” wide creaky stairs and found our antique rooms with floors leaning to the point marbles would roll. I began to have some concern for our safety, but others were just laughing. The conveniences were substandard, with one separate public bathroom for the floor.

too small for a whole family and much too dark and still too reside in, however it was not uncommon to have up to three or even four families living in one of these apartments. Tenements are the putrid, sweltering, dank and laden with disease. Often an entire building was wiped out by a disease such as cholera. Riis describes the tenants as being so cramped that babies would die of “foul air†due to 1984 by George Orwell - with
With Halloween approaching, the Teal Pumpkin Project aims to promote awareness of the severity of food allergies and inclusion for children whose food allergies preclude them from trick-or-treating. One in 13 children in the U.S. has a food allergy, making Halloween a particularly tricky holiday as many candies contain common allergens. Additionally, a number of miniature-size candies have different ingredients than the full-size equivalents and do not include ingredient labels, making it that much more complicated to determine if the trick-or-treating loot staples are safe for children affected by allergies and intolerances. With numerous precautions required, trick-or-treating can quickly become an inconvenience rather than an enjoyment
The season of fall is approaching quickly, the temperature is dropping, colors are changing, and it is the perfect time to carve some pumpkins! Carving pumpkins has been a continuous fall tradition for decades. Not only is it easy, but also fun for the family but it can also be used as a decoration for your front porch no matter how awful they might turn out. Pumpkin carving does not require the skills like Leonardo Da Vinci but sure is not as simple as tying someone 's shoe. It is a long, yet exciting process that you absolutely need the patients for.
Throughout Cantos 1-6 of Purgatorio, multiple times different individuals were talking about shadows and especially the fact that they could recognize something was different with the Pilgrim based on his shadow: “When those in front saw that the light in my right side was broken, so that the shadow extended from me to the cliff… “Without your asking, I confess to you that this a human body you see, by which the light of the sun is split upon the ground”” (Canto 3, p.53, lines 88-96). From Heaven there were rays of sun shining down onto purgatory and this seemed like it could possibly be a symbol of God’s grace on those repenting to get rid of their stains before entering the Kingdom, which is there was no sun in Hell. The shadows also made
I am a 9th grade student at the Central East High School. Our English class recently read and watched your article on “High School Tanning Grounds”, and as a class discussed how we felt about it, and rather we agree or not. I agree with you, there are many labels that exist in high school, and after reading this article I have a better perspective on how someone can be labeled. What really stuck with me was when you said, “No wondered so many of my people spit bars because the truth is too hard to handle.” This stood out to me because it is so true.
Houston is located 165 miles (266 km) east of Austin,[42] 112 miles (180 km) west of the Louisiana border, and 250 miles (400 km) south of Dallas.[43] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 656.3 square miles (1,700 km2); this comprises 634.0 square miles (1,642 km2) of land and 22.3 square miles (58 km2) covered by water.[44] The Piney Woods are north of Houston. Most of Houston is located on the gulf coastal plain, and its vegetation is classified as temperate grassland and forest. Much of the city was built on forested land, marshes, swamp, or prairie which resembles the Deep South, and are all still visible in surrounding areas.
One of the most important aspects of the assessment that I missed, was having the students answer higher-level thinking questions. The assessment was to fill out the graphic organizer of the five senses. Although this is hard for some students to think of adjectives to describe the pumpkin, the students did not have to have too much thought behind the assessment. To improve the assessment I would add some questions about predicting what the inside of a pumpkin would look like, feel, smell, taste, and sound or, the students could predict a rotten pumpkin with the five senses to allow them to think deeper. Once the students predicted they could write why they predicted the changes.
Shadow work was defined by Ivan Illich, as “all the unpaid labor – including, for example, housework – done in a wage-based economy” in 1981 in the book Shadow Work. Craig Lambert, author of “Our Unpaid, Extra Shadow Work”, used the example of a lawyer at a local grocery store checking out her own groceries to define shadow work. This is an example of shadow work because, the service of a cashier is still around, but can be bypassed to save time. Craig Lambert gives a unique insight into shadow work, he doesn’t condone it, or dismiss it. On the other hand he talks about the advantages and disadvantages of shadow work.
Shadowing was a great opportunity for me. It provides students a general overview about a certain career such as working conditions and nature of work. On the 14th of November, I shadowed Dr. Azhar Bustami, a dentist on 10043 E Adamo Dr, Tampa, FL 33619. Dr. Azhar was very welcoming and supportive. She tried her best with explaining the advantages and disadvantages of working as a dentist.
