My four years spent as President and Vice President of the Hilton Head Island High School Z-Club became devoted to answering that question for the girls in my school and ensure that everyone knew and had access to these places. Our focus turned to answering that question for the student body and piloting anti-relationship abuse campaigns, women’s menstrual health projects to benefit women in third world countries, and regularly discussing issues with the school. I began to see my club, and my high school community, band together and become more aware of women’s issues. Ideas from the each different cultural niche on Hilton Head helped us create projects that had a broader reach to educate more women. It all came to fruition when Hilton Head Island World Affairs Council partnered with the Hilton Head Island High School Z-Club and held an event and showing of the human-trafficking focused “Not My Life Documentary,” and I fully recognized the importance of Zonta, I saw the impact it can have on an individual life.
