In the poem “David and Goliath” And “Casey at Bat” they have things similar and things different. One of the similarities is they both think that they can do it, in which one does and one does not. The reason I know this is, in the story “David and Goliath” David says this to Goliath “You’ve come out to fight me with a sword and a spear and a dagger. But I’ve come out to fight you in the name of the Lord All-Powerful. He is the God of Israel’s army, and you have insulted him too!” which shows he thinks he can win. In the story “Casey at Bat” Casey shows he thinks he can win by saying “That ain’t my style,” to the pitcher with makes the crowd think he will hit the next one. The text states that David said “Sir, I have killed lions and bears that way, and I can kill this worthless Philistine. He shouldn’t have made fun of the army of the living God!” and he did those tasks by himself so this means that he can battle Goliath by himself too. From the story “Casey at Bat” the crowd and Casey said this “If only Casey could get but a whack at that – We’d put up even money, now, with Casey at the bat” to show that Casey alone can win the game.
