The Catholic Church states that in order to build the Kingdom of God on earth, justice, equality and the mission of Jesus and God must be fulfilled. The Catholic Church proclaims sexism is social sin and without women, the history of Christianity would have had an incredibly altered development, as women played and still play a fruitful role in spreading the gospel. Mission and justice are extremely important to the Catholic Church and Catholic Christians because several times in Jesus’ life he shows that he was a man on a mission. He had a purpose, his purpose was to fulfil his mission. The mission was to bring God’s good news to the people who are poor, in need or lacking something in their life and to bring freedom to all. One of the reasons why sexism is so awful is that it dates to thousands of years ago. So, it’s almost always been around. Sexism was supposedly created when there was a thought of ‘females are somewhat of a slave to their own wombs’. In time, males began doing things that females could not do while pregnant or caring for children, eventually this was decided that it was the norm and that women should not do them, even if they weren’t pregnant or caring for children. Therefore, to feel equal as men, they take part in sexist behaviour at work as a survival strategy. Women are believed to be the ‘inferior’ gender. Thus, women’s pain is treated more slowly than men’s pain because at first it is thought to just be psychological so their pain is treated less seriously than men’s. To put it simply, it’s the common quote of “it’s all in your head”. Even sexist men are similarly affected, as they are more likely to suffer from depression. They do this because of having the desire to win and craving the need for emotional control and dominance. Sexism is still a common issue which effects each person internationally and it will not be stopped soon if nobody starts to do anything about
