Within a society where individuals believe that the termination of their unborn children is justifiable because of a women’s right, that having a baby would endanger one’s own life, or even that it is simply okay to feel the desire of not wanting to become a parent, the Catholic Church opposes and challenges all of these self-contradicting ideas by man. The Catholic Church insists that abortion is and never will be a solution to these “problems” people, mainly women, experience. According to Her, the Catholic Church states that an abortion is a total abuse against the teaching that every human life on Earth is sacred, therefore having the basic human rights as a being that everyone, born or unborn, is entitled to.

They revolve around the stance of human life and should be protected. Unfortunately, human life in societies around the world is becoming dishonorable and even annihilated by common methods such as abortion, contraceptives, embryonic stem-cell research, the death penalty, and euthanasia. In the United States of America, abortions and other practical similar methods (as mentioned earlier) have been common throughout the era but at one point in the beginning, illegal to do. According to The Encyclopedia of Catholic Social Thought, Social Science, and Social Policy, “1967 Colorado and California enacted laws permitting abortions in the first third (the first trimester) of pregnancy” (Kippley 1). The legalization of abortion in the U.S. was finally brought about in the case of Roe v.
