The Catholic Church opposes abortion because it values all human life, including the unborn. It is considered a sin at every stage; Christians believe that the embryo has a soul at conception. The Bible refers to children before birth as very small children, although it never specifically addresses the issue of abortion. It is a long standing debate between supporters and the opposition for the subject, because even though it is legal, it breaks morality and is a major religious concern. The issue is so large because it is black and white, or a right and wrong only topic Our world view lets abortion be legal, after the Supreme Court ruling of Roe v. Wade in 1973. This ruling made abortion legal, yet if you were to go to any abortion clinic throughout the country you would see protesters outside trying to help or stop the clients going in. Exercising reproductive rights for a woman, they don’t understand the long term effects of abortion, both physically and mentally. If the woman were to abort her fetus, she causes damage to her own body and may create and infertile environment down the line, not to mention the many thoughts of what may have been or what else could have happened. That child could be adopted into a better and more loving environment if it were to come to that situation, and who knows the potential that child may have in creating a better future for others. A person is a person, regardless of size, and size doesn’t determine worth. “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!
