Burgmann Anglican School strives to provide a supportive and inspirational environment that seeks to develop students ' full intellectual and personal potential. We are a co-educational independent school located in Gungahlin, ACT with two campuses. The Valley Campus caters for students from 3-year-old Preschool to Year 5 and Year 9 to 12 while the Forde Campus caters for 3-year-old Preschool to Year 2 and Year 6 to 8. Since the school had been open, only about a quarter of the students had been converted to Christianity. This just further engrained in the locals mind that the “heathens” could not grasp the concept of Christianity. Others became frustrated that when students went back to their “heathen” ways. As far as in the school itself, most students felt too homesick to do well. Soon uneasy feelings and tensions arose in the school.

Michael the Archangel School from kindergarten to eighth grade. I loved everything about St. Mike’s, especially religion class. Since St. Michael’s is a Catholic Parish, they teach the catechism and Church history to their students. This was the number one thing I enjoyed about being a St. Michael Defender. I looked forward to starting every day off with religion class and prayer.

Transitioning from public school to catholic school was a huge obstacle to overcome. This transitioning helped me grow physically and intellectually. My mind was constantly challenged. I gained knowledge from this experience and learned how to apply it to certain situations. Growing intellectually requires one to take in new knowledge and that is exactly what I have done during my last four years at Mount St. Ursula.

During this workshop we focused on comparing the curriculum in the United States schools and the curriculum in the Reggio Emilia schools. Being able to compare the two kinds of curriculum made it a lot easier to fully understand the curriculum being used in the Reggio Emilia schools. The main difference between these two curriculums is how the curriculum is decided upon. In the United Sate all curriculum is preset based on standards that each state decides on based the state assessments they have created. Curriculum in Reggio Emilia schools on the other hand is decided on based on the children’s interests.
Schools are a big structuring force in the world we live in today. Going to a private Catholic high school may have more advantages than going to a crowded public city school. For example, there is more student to teacher contact, as well as more resources to guide you in your next step of life. If parents have money to send their kids to a better school, those kids are going to get more opportunities like individual attention, getting more of their questions answered and getting connected to powerful people. I want to become an assistant principal for one simple reason, the children. I believe that all children can learn under the right conditions. With this in mind, I feel that instructional leaders are responsible for ensuring that the conditions for learning are embedded in the school’s culture. Although my role as a Learning Team Facilitator enables me to have an impact on the academic achievement of students through working with teachers, I believe that becoming an assistant principal will help me to be more of a driving force throughout the school. I possess several personal attributes that are essential in serving in the capacity of an assistant principal.
With the school’s student body being so close to the school it causes a more diverse church setting. But with the school being so diverse it’s hard to know your students and their preferences because it’s so many different cultures to try to adapt
In Reggio Emilia approach, there are many strengths as it supports children that a child’s image is viewed as having rights and not just needs and child has been viewed as beautiful, competent, powerful, curious, creative as well as full of ambitious desires and potentials. In addition, it supports children’s individual differences and needs, documentation that Reggio teachers collect about their students and a mix of long- and short term projects which provide students with a deeper understanding of the subject matter. While the strength in Montessori curriculum is children are 5 prepared for the real world, where they work side by side with people of all ages, they develop self-discipline, independence and analytical thinking, all materials in a Montessori classroom have a proper place, and it is the responsibility of each student to properly store their materials when they are done to maintain order, independence is greatly emphasized and focuses on individual intelligences. The weakness point in Montessori and Reggio Emilia Curriculum: There are some weakness point in Reggio Emilia approach such as this approach puts a lot of emphasis on the importance of large space as is considered educational, Reggio Emilia schools are found in wealthy countries and are attended by children from wealthy families while the poor cannot opt for the Reggio Emilia approach, public schools get limited funding while private schools mostly focus on results and not process and also the
As Roman Catholics, it is our religious duty to serve others whether those people are a part of our religious community or whether they are from any other type of community. Service is an important aspect of life for not only Catholics but also every single person in the world. By performing various acts of service in our communities, a person’s life can be greatly improved just through a simple act of kindness and love from the person’s heart. Not only can an act of service be beneficial to the person or organization that the volunteer is performing the service for, but it can also be beneficial to the person who is partaking in this act of service for another human being. No matter your age, your background, or your religious affiliation, service is a crucial part of our everyday lives and everyone should get involved in this and do a service out of the good of their hearts.

In my younger years, I already remember my parents teaching me basic Catholic prayers and telling me stories or parables from the Bible. In addition, I spent my grade school and high school years in a Catholic school in Pasig. For ten years, we would pray before and after every subject and break time. Catholic retreats, recollections, seminars, and outreach events became a part of our student life, apart from having religion classes three times a week. In short, I grew up actively practicing the Catholic faith, with Jesus as the center and the role model of my life.
