The concept of homosexuality has been one of the most controversial topics hotly discussed and argued among different religions around the world. This is because of various reinterpretations of the holy texts conducted by major religious leaders and their subsequent influence on their followers. Another factor is modernization in which people's attitude towards the introduction of new ideas has become more loosen over decades. Nevertheless, some religions still follow their disciplines rigorously and refuse to accept this change that liberalists have brought through several rights movements. The U.S Catholicism and Wahhabism are great examples that use their scriptures to claim that homosexual lifestyles and same-sex marriages are not yet acceptable. …show more content…

The Catholic Church nowadays is more open and receptive to the idea of homosexual sexual orientation and consider themselves responsible for protecting their rights (Maher, 326). Not only that, although the church officials still express resistant attitudes against sexual activities among same-sex people, they address that “same-sex sexual behavior is no more sinful than any nonmarital sexual behavior” (Moon, 1222).
