Another cause of poverty is high inflation. High inflation is the rapid increase of prices in the country; whether it is the increase of the price of gas, food, electricity, water and other things. Not everyone can pay the bill every time it increases because some people have an exact salary to pay all their bills and if the bills increase, they would come up short on money. So where are they going to get the money to pay the bills? They will experience difficulties in paying the bills and finding another source of income to be able to pay. Another cause of poverty is that we lack discipline. I am actually okay having President Rodrigo Duterte as our president because we know him as strict. He imposes curfews and supports the death penalty. I know that we are a Christian community but I think that the death penalty is only a scare. I mean, how is he going to fix the Philippines if he doesn’t make us practice discipline? I’ll give you an example. In a school, there are rules. And if you violate a rule, there are certain consequences you must endure. So, we are afraid to do disobey the rules because we know that there will be consequences. If they didn’t create any consequences for each rule, do you think the students will follow? They won’t. Why? Because there are no consequences, they won’t lose anything. It is very hard to understand the root cause of poverty because there are so many affecting factors and there won’t be a single solution to solve this problem. Just like in heartbreak, healing takes time. Fixing the Philippine’s poverty problem will also take time.
