During the 1750’s to 1850’s the world experienced many changes in: society, including ideas of freedom, politics, commerce, industries, and technology at varying degrees in different regions of the globe; most of which led to the concept of creating nations. All these changes throughout the globe impacted each regions of the world uniquely. Particularly in Europe, in which commerce and industrialization changed the economic and political powers; causing global economic integration at Europe in its center. Since, European governments enforced many nations to participate in a European centered economy; in which each nation exported raw materials, and imported European manufactured goods. Together with these changes, there were also various continuities including British political influence and monopoly on Indian trade; and in china the Qing dynasty remained and opium trade continued to occur. In addition, both regions continued to have a patriarchal society. The regions of India and China experienced many political, economic, and social changes during this time period. For instance, India’s political structure was hugely changed by British East India Company, and in China the British also had a profound political impact in their victory of the Opium War. India’s political structure was previously unaltered by the East India Company, as it only set up trading posts to control commerce; never taking political control. However, this shift in India’s political control occurred as a result of British attempts to develop their East India trade monopoly, which resulted in the British gradually conquering and collecting taxes from Indian states such as Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa. The most crucial political continuity in India is that British continue to inhabit India, as they had trading post for a long period of time in India and were never rebelled against during this time period; in which the conquered India. Therefore, the British have always had a political influence in India because of the presence by the authoritative East India Company. In china there was also a political continuity which was the Qing rule over the region. This is because the Qing dynasty has ruled china for centuries, and still continued to have power after their defeat in the Opium War; although they had to sign different treaties which allowed foreign powers presence in Qing politics. Moreover, the most relevant economic continuity in India is Britain's monopoly on Indian trade, which comes from the same reason that the East India Company has had trading post controlling Indian commerce for over a century. However, during this time period this control of Indian commerce was at its strongest because of British actions of conquering Indian territories. Whilst in China, the economic continuity was a bigger issue; it was the continuity of opium trade way before the Opium War and after. The only distinct is that before the war it was illegal, and after the war China was forced to legalize it. However, it was still a part of Chinese economy whether legal or illegal.
