Central Theme: In chapters 4-7, the authors go into depth and explain what core the behaviors of a 10X leader mean and how they are all connected. In order to become a 10X leader, a person must have a fanatic discipline that requires of a specific, methodical, and consistent plan of action, an empirical creativity that consists of firing bullets and calibrating for cannonballs, and a productive paranoia that roots from consciousness of danger and vigilance of possible disruptions. The most important factor that creates a flow of all three behaviors is momentum. These leaders are in constant motion. They stimulate ideas and creativity, and encourage wise experimentation, and are critical about results and discipline. They do not rely on luck or circumstances to determine their success, but they analyse their situation, and react according to it. When they face bad luck, they learn from it and make any necessary changes, and when they face good luck they continue to follow their principles. Leaders work with the expectation that what they are working for, will become great and will remain great even after they leave their leadership position. For one I have I have come to realize that need to work on discipline. First of all, I do not expect to become a 10X leader, but I know that I have the capacity to become one if I work toward it. I have decided that I am going to work on various aspects of my life, not because I read this book or because it would make me look good if I say so, but I have come to realize that I can choose to be great and not just good. I have the ability, and now resources, to understand what I need to work on and how I will improve on those areas. I used to believe that if I met a certain list of traits that define a leader I would automatically be a leader, but I have come to comprehend that I was wrong. A great leader is great because they choose to work hard, if not insanely hard, to become great. As I read about fanatic discipline, SMaC and the 20 Mile March, I understood that I really need to work on discipline in several areas of my life. Now that I look back to my time in high school, and even upon some situations now, I know that I would have struggled less if I would have used even a couple of the strategies from this book. When it comes to discipline, I can say without a doubt that I am NOT fanatically disciplined, but I do have enough discipline to do get things done. I am good and at getting things done and having them be good, but I am not great, and I do not produce great things...yet. I found
