APUSH P4 11/30/15 SRQS Chapter 13 – IMPENDING CRISIS How were the boundary disputes in Oregon and Texas resolved? • • Britain and the United States both claimed sovereignty in the Northwest, a dispute initially resolved by an 1818 treaty allowing “joint occupation” by settlers from either nation. • • Considerable numbers of Americans migrated to the Northwest in the 1840s. Despite conflicts with Indians, these migrants were able to establish permanent settlements and urged the U.S. government to solidify American claims in the region.
In chapter 10 of the 3rd rule from, Bud,Not Buddy. bud introduce the rule 87 for bud to thrive. It help bud by: “He said, “ I’ve got a problem and i need you to help me figure it out.” This rule is about, “When a adults tells you they need your help with a problem get ready to be trick most times this means they just want you to go fetch something for them.”
In the story “13 and a half “by rachel vail the main character is invited to go to ashley house. The Main character at that time doesn’t know ashley as much. There only connection was sitting next to each other in math class. Unlikely as it is the main character still said yes to her invitation. In the beginning of the story the main character perspective on ashley was pompous and selfish but later towards the end of the story she believed that ashley is also humble and thankful .
Serpico, the New York City cop who couldn’t be bought by nobody. Serpico is a book that tells a story about a cop that works in New York, that wouldn’t take any brides from anybody and who had to deal with a very corrupt police department. There was a big gambling problem going on in New York and there was nothing being done about it so Serpico being such an honest cop decided he would try to get rid of the problem. In the following book report over Serpico, by Peter Maas, I will summarize the book’s contents and give my thoughts over the book.
Victor Rios begins chapter six by describing the way the Latino boys he studied used masculinity as a rehabilitative tool. He describes how the boys are constantly “questioning” each other’s manhood as a way of proving their own masculinity. “The boys’ social relations with one another and with community members were saturated with expressions and discourses of manhood” (pg.125). Rios continues to describe the affects criminalization and its gendered practices has influenced these young boy’s mentality of what it means to be masculine. In chapter six, the author explains that although the boys had easy access to weapons, they rarely used them because of their clear understanding the consequences associated with such violence.
Chapter seven begins with the sale of Solomon Platt and Eliza Dradley to William Ford. Ford is a very noble slave master and Solomon believes he is lucky to have been bought by him. They begin their journey by travelling to Ford’s planation in Louisiana in the Great Pine Woods. For his kindness, Solomon is indebted to him so he helps devise a raft to transport lumber over water rather than land. He receives high praise for saving his master money.

Danielle L. McGuire’s At the Dark End of the Street, “an important, original contribution to civil rights historiography”, discusses the topic of rape and sexual assault towards African American women, and how this played a major role in causing the civil rights movement (Dailey 491). Chapter by chapter, another person's story is told, from the rape of Recy Taylor to the court case of Joan Little, while including the significance of Rosa Parks and various organizations in fighting for the victims of unjust brutality. The sole purpose of creating this novel was to discuss a topic no other historian has discussed before, because according to McGuire they have all been skipping over a topic that would change the view of the civil rights movement.
Thomas J. DiLorenzo, wrote this book to scavenge the documentary record in an attempt to show Lincoln as a revolutionary centralizer who used national sovereignty to establish corporate-mercantilist control at the expense of open economic liberty. Through lots of research and careful documentation, DiLorenzo describes the sixteenth president as a man who devoted his political career to revolutionizing the American form of government from one that was very limited in choice and highly dispersed as the Founding Fathers intended, to a highly centralized, activist state. Americans consider Lincoln to be the greatest president in history. His legend as the greatest president has created hundreds of books, a national holiday, and a monument in Washington,
The book Rebirth overall was a great book to read about the Chicano history. It was detailed about the rough time in Los Angeles for Mexican Immigrants. It showed me certain viewpoints that I would’ve never saw such as the discrimination against U.S citizens being labeled as illegal aliens because of their looks. From what I read most Los Angeles Mexican American settlers were deported on a small compact train that was full of people from the United States to Mexico. Simply, because of their skin color or their similar looks to Mexicans.
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury is a novel in which a carnival arrives in town with malicious plans. The values of life are put to the test as horrific change comes to Green Town, Illinois. It begins with two boys, Jim Nightshade and Will Calloway, born two minutes apart but on different days confronted by a lightning rod salesman. He claims that lightning will strike Jim’s house at 3:00AM that morning. Bradbury then fits a lot into the next hours, as 3am didn’t come until many chapters later.
Rusty Crowder Period 2 Quarter 2 Commentary #1 The Long Walk by Stephen King Pages 1-25 (Chapter 1) The story starts off with the main character, Raymond Davis Garraty. He is a 16-year-old boy from Maine. The only one competing from Maine, where the long walk takes place, and is supported by big crowds of people.
The book I,Michael Bennet starts off in New York City with detcective Michael Bennett, who is planning to arrested one of the most noturios criminals Mannuel "the sun king" Perrine. He was a vicaious murderer, a billonaire drug dealer,and ran the Tepitpo drug cartel. Bennet is a NYPD detective which puts him lead officer in the case. They plan to catch perrine when he makes one of his few trips out if Mexico in to the Unites states. The arrest soon turns to a shoot out and Bennetts good friend Hughie is killed by perrines right hand woman marrieta.
Realities of war are revealed to us by the people that fight in it, yet war itself does just the very same to those fighting. The actions people make on the battlefield, or lack thereof, can be quite telling as to who they are at the core of their individuality. Shelby Foote presents a great deal of battlefield narrative to tell us about who the characters on the stage on the Civil War are without being forthright himself. This can be observed in Foote’s telling of the Seven Days Battle. Just in these six battles over seven days in Richmond, Foote teaches us a great deal about war.
MOVIE REVIEW: 7 AÑOS 7 Anos is a Spanish film produced by Netflix, a well-known media provider. There are few characters in the film and only one space passes. Filmin is as follows; The Finance Inspectors chase a company that makes money with corruption. There is evidence related to tax evasion, which will make the company complete its work on its hands.
