Chapter 18 of Everyone’s An Author explained to the readers that it’s extremely important for us to use strategies for supporting our argument. Also, the strategies for supporting our argument helps us as a student with much of the writing we do in college because it serves us as useful tools for generating ideas. In order to do so, we should use example, description, humor, and classification as the convincing evidence to support our argument.
Now, the framework I decided to use for this article through analyzing is Lloyd Bitzer’s Rhetorical Situation. In his rhetorical situation, he explains how every situation can be analyzed rhetorically by looking at the interactions between speakers, subjects, audience and purpose. A rhetoric piece of work comes into existence for the sake of something far greater than the piece itself. In each rhetoric situation, he explains how there’s three main variables that come into play. First, you gave the exigence, which is the “reason.”
In the first chapter of They Say, I Say: Moves That Matter in Academic Writing, by Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein, the authors explain that to make the writer’s thesis more understandable, it is necessary for a writer to provide views about their point. The authors state that in order “to keep an audience engaged, a writer needs to explain what he or she is responding to… early in the discussion” (20). Graff and Birkenstein provide templates to introduce other views in ways such as as: opening with an anecdote, presenting views as the writer’s own, and opening with a debate. The authors end the chapter by explaining “return sentences”, which can be used to maintain a text’s purpose and remind readers of the ideas that are being responded to.

Audience, implication, purpose, ethos and so many more are all concepts that authors use in their persuasive writing to prove their point to be true. Authors: Blake Hurst, Donald Barlett and James. B. Steele and Michael Pollan all use a variety of these skills to influence the readers to agree with their side. Throughout each article, the authors use the concept of pathos, ethos and logos to show their views. These strategies are crucial to writing a good persuasive essay to really stress their point.

Everyday of our lives people look to find the purpose of the activities that they complete. Authors share their perspectives on life with their literature. A reader’s interpretation of the purpose of a writing can vary to the prior knowledge of a topic. The point that a writer tries to get across can say a lot about their political views.
When I write, I try to put myself in someone else’s shoe. I imagine how they would feel, think, and behave in response to my writing. I try not to be biased in any way. Most of the time I would directly state what I am trying to prove. A good writer uses logos, ethos, and pathos, but also influences their audience in a new way.
When writing an essay or article you need to be able to keep the audience’s attention. Keeping the reader’s attention through your essay is important because you want your reader to stay interested in the essay and not get bored and stop reading. In Roxane Gay’s “A Tale of Three Coming Out Stories”, she uses multiple techniques to keep her reader’s attention. When you are writing, use different techniques such as, emotion and examples/evidence to your argument.
Writing Essay 1 was very enjoyable, because finally, the essay is about my own feelings. I learnt to use pathos other than logos to persuade readers in this essay. In the past, the essays I wrote focus more on using logos to persuade readers. Moreover, those essays all follow the same pattern, which is introduction, three body paragraphs, and then conclusion. However, when I read Endangered Pleasures, I realized that beside using logic and compelling examples, writers can also affect readers’ emotions and then convince them.
That means do not write about what everyone has heard before because the rest have already thought of that idea too. To avoid that, make a list of arguments that come to your mind and write the paper by making sure that you don’t use any of the material on this list. Something that most readers

In addition to writing for purpose, I was also able to use evidence to form and support arguments in a research paper. I did this when composing my essay "Cosmetic Surgery: A Risky Investment. " This kind of writing demanded more from me than the personal narrative. It required supporting evidence from three academic journals, along with my own opionion which I used to support my thesis and back argumentative points.
