In the book Of Mice and Men, two men are traveling around California to find work during the Great Depression. They have known each other for a very long time because Lennie’s Aunt Clara wanted George to look after him. George, the leader, is the person who chooses where they go and work. Lennie just simply follows along and does the work. Lennie has a mental disability that causes him to forget things quickly, not talk properly, and do things that a normal man wouldn’t do.
In John Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men,George and Lennie are two guys that are heading to their next job. Lennie is a giant and forgetful guy who does not always know what he is doing. George, on the other hand,is the opposite. He is short and knows what he is doing when it comes to work. Lennie was dangerous to everything around him and he also liked to pet soft things.
George and Lennie are migrant workers, which mean they go from town to town looking for any work they can get frequently. This book had its tragic at parts and it showed how dreams can be crushed very easily. John Steinbeck in his book, Of Mice and Men,
It was a hot sunny evening in the Salinas River in Soledad. One side of the river had beautiful hills and mountains covering the earth. On the other side green vegetation near the edge of the river. Of Mice and Men is a short novella by John Steinbeck that illustrates the ranchers in the West during the Great Depression. It describes the loneliness, companionship, the impossibilities of the American Dream, and oppression of the ranchers in the state of California. Among them were two migrant workers named Lennie and George. While George is a quick-witted character who is a companion of Lennie and helps to solve a lot of problems in his daily life, Lennie is an ignorant character who can be better understood through looking into his thoughts, his interaction with others, and his actions.
In the story Of Mice and Men written by John Steinbeck, it mainly takes place on a ranch where two migrant workers, Lennie and George travel around to find work. Throughout the story George helps Lennie throughout the whole story because Lennie is mentally handicapped and has trouble thinking. Lennie cannot be by himself and needs help with simple tasks. George has a large amount of responsibility for Lennie as he always has to care for him. There were events throughout the story where Lennie does some bad things that gets him and George in trouble and at risk of getting kicked out of the ranch.
George is Lennie’s friend that has to take care of him because of his disability, and whenever Lennie would start to get into trouble George would get him out of it. Lennie having problems relates to marginalization because he is often left out and overlooked because of his disability. Throughout Of Mice and Men marginalization is seen as limiting

By examining the actions of the characters in The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams,The Truman Show, and “The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty” by James Thurber, the reader can see each character struggles with and withdrawals from their realities. We also see the author gives each character a way to make their realities a little better. Throughout each story, each character struggles to accept their realities. A struggle with acceptance was shown in “The Glass Menagerie” when Tom was arguing with his mom about work when he said “You think I want to spend fifty-five years down there in that celotex interior! with fluorescent tubes… I’d rather somebody picked up a crowbar and battered out my brains than go back mornings”(Williams 23).
In Of Mice and Men, George demonstrates that you can be friends with who ever you want which can make unique friendship and being open minded, because he has a friend that has trouble controlling himself, but George still continued to help him and stay beside him. The story takes back in the day during the American great depression and people struggles to live in America. The two main characters in the story are George who is the sharp eyed hard worker and Lennie who is handicapped and has bad control of himself. George and Lennie are searching for work and Lennie who happens to cause trouble for George which gets in George’s way a lot and because of Lennie they had to leave the town, because they were interviewing job with the manager
The novel, Of Mice and Men, has several characters in it that I have noticed have similar characters as myself. These characters that I will write about are Lennie, George, and Slim. These characters are very important to the plot and are very important to me as well. Lennie has similar qualities to me because he is always trying to please his friends. Other similar qualities he has is being a good worker and follower.
The initial paragraphs of John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men introduces Lennie and George, two men living on the road, in search of a job. Both men have dreams of their own and depend on each other in order to achieve them. George takes care of Lennie, who is mentally incapable, while Lennie provides company to George. These men wander around hoping to achieve the American Dream. They continue to go after it, without realizing that they will never be able to obtain it.
In the novella "Of Mice and Men, 2 migrant workers, George and Lennie are on their way to their new place to work in Salinas Valley. On the way to their work, because Lennie can't remember every moment of his life, he always asks George to tell him again about their future. When they arrive, they met the boss and new friends. Curley, boss’s son doesn't like Lennie at all. They also meet Curley's wife who is a tart.
Flagg’s character Evelyn Couch is seen as a believable character, because the reader gets a bit of background on who she is and why she goes to the nursing home. In the novel, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, Evelyn is described as a “forty-eight year old . . . [who] had gotten lost somewhere along the way” (37). After her children left to college Evelyn felt as if she did not know what to do with her life anymore, because before it revolved around her family and taking care of each one of them. In the late 1980’s women began to have more job opportunities; however, in Evelyn’s case she was already too old to go out and work for a company without having went to college.
John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men is a short novel that packs a punch and really looks back at America’s past and mistakes. Steinbeck paints a picture of the late 1920s and early 1930s through two men, George and Lennie. George looks after the mentally challenged Lennie and must take action by soon ending Lennie’s life. The characters in the novel all struggle with heartbreaking conflicts but, no one else suffers more than Lennie and George. These conflicts are often supported imagery in the text.
