“The Sniper” is a story about two brothers fighting during a civil war. One of them is Republican, group of Irish people who want the Northern Ireland to be a part of the Republic of Ireland and separate from the UK, and the other sniper being Free Staters, who want the Northern Ireland to be independent from UK and Republic of Ireland. This Irish civil war took place in Dublin, Ireland around 1922. The Republican sniper is the protagonist. The protagonist is the main character of the story who deals with the problem/conflict and make important decisions. The Republican sniper has all of these traits which prove he 's the protagonist. The Republican sniper is the main character of this story. The main character is the center and the main focus of the story. In the story, it describes how the Republican sniper feels and his actions. The point of view is 3rd person limited, which means it talks about the main character’s feelings and thoughts. “When the sniper reached the lane way on the street level, he felt sudden curiosity as to the identity of the enemy sniper whom he’d killed.” This talks about how he feels about the sniper he had killed.
