In A Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park, “Salva’s Bio”, “Water for South Sudan: Salva’s Story,” and “Time Trip: Sudan’s Civil War,” many events that happened in Sudan and how people adapted to their challenging environment are shown. The characters I will focus on are Salva, Nya, Salva’s Uncle, the Lost Boy’s, and Sudan in general. The main point I will focus on is that individuals adapt in challenging environments by taking small steps to complete a big task, moving from one place to another, and taking advantage of the current environment and it’s resources. The author uses several literary devices, including a plot, characters, images, language, and other things to show how Salva, Salva’s uncle, the “Lost Boys”, and Nya react to what is
Elia Kazan’s award-winning film On the Waterfront and Arthur Miller’s tragic play The Crucible both explore the impact of fear on both individuals and communities and the consequences that may arise due to the chaos caused by fear. Both texts contain centres of power which instil fear in the community and ultimately result in the untimely demise of numerous characters. Additionally, both texts depict the different acts of self-preservation an individual may exhibit when confronted by fear-induced hardships. Furthermore, despite main characters from both texts – John Proctor and Terry Malloy- illustrating acts of heroism in their final scenes, only Malloy’s attempt for redemption is seen to result in a resolution to the corruption caused by

He tries to escape The Sudanese Civil War to Ethiopia first, and then to Kenya. Bare feet, empty house, bloody paths, hungry children, wounded men, crying women. This is what was seen walking through the streets and paths of Southern Sudan in the late 1900’s as well as Virginia in the late 1800’s. A family is much more than the blood running in your veins and the name on your birth certificate. Family are people you love and trust more than life itself. In A Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park and Shades of Gray by Carolyn Reeder, William Page and Salva Dut’s initial feelings of family were shifted, causing them to believe family was anyone you love and trust dearly, after life experiences such as loss and seclusion.

The characters also demonstrate it while they were in conflict with the soldiers who invaded their town and imprison their families in the Showground. There is a larger variety of characters in The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn. It ranges from simple country boys, Jesus preaching women, even to scheming robbers. With such an assortment of characters, comes an abundance of personalities. Some characters are sneaky and conniving, while others are innocent and trusting. I would describe myself as kind-hearted, hardworking, and caring of my family.
World War Ⅰ had a grave affect on those who fought. The veterans of the Great War became known as the Lost Generation. Being part of the Lost Generation came with a feeling of unfulfillment, numbness and alienation. They often felt out of touch with society, as they had experienced trauma that one cannot understand unless he/she has lived it. This feeling often resulted in avoiding feeling or issues with alcohol, traveling and even comedy.
Graham Salisbury used character traits throughout “The Ravine” to tell us about Vinny and Joe-Boy and how much they really are “friends”. One example is that Joe-Boy told Vinny “Hey, Vinny, just think, that kid walked where you walking.” and Vinny’s reaction was “Shuddup.”. This infers that their “friendship” is more of an excuse for Joe-Boy to bully Vinny. Another example from the text on page 4 is that Joe-Boy says to Vinny “Hey, maybe you going be the the one to find his body.”
