The Inspiring Heroic, Louie Zamperini Louis was a mischievous child until war hit him. In his childhood Louis had put a bad impression on him, as he was doing drugs, smoking and being disrespectful. As a young child he was a troublemaker who was later well known for a track star in High School. He was severely beaten many times in camps as he was in war. He was also an olympic star who met Adolf Hitler.
In the novel A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J Gaines, Grant is a main character that has a lot of influence over the people in his community. Some might even consider him a hero. I believe that Grant is a hero because he helps Jefferson become a man, changes himself for the better, and wants to continue changing the community. Over the course of the novel, Grant helps Jefferson become the man that he needs to be in order to walk to his death with honor. When Grant first begrudgingly went to visit Jefferson in prison Jefferson was in a really low state.
“The Hero’s Journey” is term for a narrative style that was identified by scholar Joseph Campbell. The narrative pattern would depict a character’s heroic journey, and categorize the character’s experiences into three large sections: departure, which contained the hero’s call to adventure, fulfillment, which consisted of the hero’s initiation, trials, and transformation, and finally the return. Campbell English 111-09 28 February 2018 The Plot Twist Around the Bend* "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been" by Joyce Carol Oates and "Encounters with Unexpected Animals" by Bret Anthony Johnston are short stories that describe events where the characters in compromising situations. They showed how one's outlook on life can be altered once a conflict or threat is presented. While both authors appeared to have this in common, their methods allowed for two different approaches. "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?" takes a focus on the main protagonist, Connie.
In the story Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates, the main character Connie is continuously trying to find herself and become more independent. Constant fights with her mother lead Connie wanting more freedom and to live her life the way she sees fit and finds an escape in music. Throughout the story, Oates places emphasis on music in each scene, whether it be related to Connie’s second personality, at the diner or the music being played in Arnold Friends’ car. This recurrence of music acts as a symbol for Connie’s hunger for independence.

Love is of utmost importance in Christianity. In this story, a boyfriend, who does not manifest love and is a hypocrite and a sinner, to his loving girlfriend who is carrying their future baby. The boyfriend, changes and transforms his views of himself throughout the short story.

Meant as a spiritual successor to Linklater’s 1994 masterpiece, Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some tells the story of college baseball players starting out their college life three days before their fall semester starts. Jumping from party to party, Linklater has delivered yet again in giving audiences another relaxing and fun time. In Brave New World, Aldous Huxley presents three main characters, Bernard, Helmholtz, and John as three possible heroes. A hero is defined as a person who in the face of danger, combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, bravery, or strength. In contrast, an antihero is defined as a person who conspicuously lacks heroic qualities like bravery, nobility, or courage. Readers are given hope that the moments where Bernard and Helmholtz felt more than they are conditioned to, might lead them beyond their conditioning and society to emerge as heroes. Unfortunately, as the novel progresses, readers see how they lack the characteristics of a hero by failing to free individualism and the soul.
