In The Odyssey by Homer, the main character is portrayed to be a hero. To be heroic means to have courage and bravery. Also, it means that you're intelligent, you are a strategic, and you do what is right. In all, Odysseus exhibits many heroic qualities. Odysseus, the main character in The Odyssey, shows many of the heroic qualities.
There are many types of hero, fictional, historical, and modern day. Odysseus was a historical hero, who saved his home of Ithaca. He had so many heroic traits, such as, bravery, courage, caring, loyalty, determination, and so much more. Fictional, modern day and other historical heroes have many of these traits as well. Therefore, the word hero has not changed.
In The Odyssey, Odysseus was a Tragic Hero from the Trojan War. After ten years of fighting for his country, he had to lead his crew back to their home, Ithaca. Odysseus had a very unique character through his journey. He was the leader of his crew and got them through many hard trials. Odysseus used his main traits of intelligence, determination, and bravery in order to get home.
In the epic poem, “Odyssey” by Homer various important relationship traits are revealed. They all had a great impact on Odysseus life. Some are content and others were maligned. Three relationship traits that are significant in the story are the loyalty, disloyalty and accommodating. Once Odysseus returns back home, he finds out who his loyal and disloyal people are.
Odysseus is the protagonist of The Odyssey. He is not a typical ‘strong man” like Achilles or Hercules, rather, he is a man of thought, patience, and clever tricks. Odysseus used his intelligence to overcome obstacles when he was on Calypso’s Island, at sea, and when he returned back home to Ithaca. First, Odysseus was on Cyclops when he had to overcome an inconvenience. To begin, Odysseus and his men followed a flock of sheep into a cave after finding them on the island of Cyclops.

In Homer’s The Odyssey, Odysseus has many characteristics of being a strong leader. One of the first traits that the reader finds out is that Odysseus has plenty of knowledge with his great battle experiences. In the beginning of the Cyclops he finds polyphemus and asks for help, but it turns out that polyphemus is not going to help him and she eats one of his men. Odysseus doesn't get scared but rather he sees that he must get his men out.
In The Odyssey, throughout the book Odysseus develops traits that can be seen in modern society.while reading the book, I have recognized Odysseus traits in my mother. Nevertheless, my mother is kind and quiet although she is quiet she can be fierce at times. Odysseus, the main character resembles to my mom because both demonstrate determination, intellectuality, patience and courageousness. Odysseus being far from home for more than 20 years he was determined to go back to Penelope and Telemachus. However, Telemachus being determined to discover if his father was alive he went in search of him.
Many of these traits that George has are the same to Odysseus. He was a commander for his army while sailing to Troy. Troy was an enemy towards Ithaca. Also, Odysseus had just as many hardships as George. He got sent away from his family battling Troy.

Odysseus displays his many strengths and struggles throughout his mighty journey in The Odyssey of Homer, a verse translation by Allen Mandelbaum. In book 18, Odysseus displays his great physical strength as a man while disguised as a beggar with this powerful quote. " But don't provoke my fists; do not incite; however old I am, if we should fight, your chest and lips would run with blood; that done, tomorrow we'd be spared another ruckus—I doubt that you'd be visiting with us again—here in the halls of lord Odysseus." (Homer 361)
Odysseus’s Traits Throughout the Odyssey, the main character Odysseus goes on an epic adventure with his focus being to get home to his wife Penelope, and his son Telemachus. He faces many obstacles dealing with characters such as the Cyclopes, Poseidon, Aeolus, Athena, Helios, Calypso, Zeus, Hermes, Scylla, and Circe. Odysseus’s men are some of the most valuable people to him throughout the Odyssey. He always puts himself in front of danger for them to protect them even though they all died from an unexpected turn of events soon before he returns home. When Odysseus comes home he greets his twenty year old son and straightens things out on his homeland, Ithaca.
As we all know, the definition of a hero is described as, "A person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities. " In the epic "Odyssey" written by Homer, Odyessus's 10 year journey home is shown throughout the story. It starts off with Odysseus in Troy after the Trojan War, and then continues with his journey home. It is a rough, long journey with 16 stops and challenges. Throughout the entirety of this epic, Odysseus shows the difference between his hero qualities and his zero qualities.
The Odyssey by Homer revolves around the character, Odysseus, and his ten-year struggle to return home after the Trojan War. As the epic’s idol, he displays the combination of a clever, handsome, and courageous man popular among the mortals as well as the gods. Essentially, he embodies the ideals of the ancient Greek culture, being adorned with many favored characteristics of the era. However, an intriguing aspect of Odysseus lies in his personality. As the protagonist, he does not manifest the entirety of a stereotypical hero because Odysseus has a fatal flaw—his arrogance.
Odysseus is not an admirable character, he is egotistical, injudicious, and unbelievably pretentious. Odysseus may seem to be the perfect idol to have, who would not want to worship a undeniably tenacious human being slaying many monsters and conquering any women he desires. But that is the negative, conquering women? In the Odyssey, you may find yourself applauding Odysseus for his courageous actions and being able to overcome any task, no matter how problematic and challenging it may seem. However, you may also see the unfavorable qualities Odysseus possesses.
This article was about two brothers who originally lived in Syria and then lived the rest of their lives as refugees in America. The story was both a mirror and a window. A mirror since it reflected something within me and gave me a way to connect to the story. It was also a window because it showed me a new perspective on refugees and what it was like to live as one.
