I believe I made an affective choice in choosing to teach this lesson using “The Three Snow Bears” by Jan Brett. Throughout the story there were clear events the students could use to help them determine character traits for the four main characters; Mama Bear, Papa Bear, Baby Bear, and Aloo-ki. In particular, the character trait helpful was used by many students to describe Mama Bear’s actions. An additional character trait we discussed was selfish, we said Aloo-ki was selfish because she ate the bears’ food, and used their belongings without asking for permission.
I believe I accomplished part of my objective as by the end of the lesson the students were able to correctly identify character traits. After teaching the lesson and reviewing the students’ work it is clear the second part of my objective was not reached as the students still struggled to distinguish character traits from what the character was feeling.
2. Did you achieve success through the use of your assessment? How?
I thought my informal assessment could have gone better the students seemed to struggle in distinguishing what a character trait was and what was something the character was feeling. A way I feel I can improve on this for next time is to provide the students with more examples of what character traits are. Additionally, the students would benefit if

The students were able to suggest many character traits to describe this person. The students were also able to name many ways the person could be warmed up. A few of the suggestions the students made was the person could be given multiple blankets, or they could take a hot shower to get rid of the chill, and the person could stand in front of a heater to warm up. Based on the students’ answers I believe this activity was successful as the students were able to apply the newly learned
