I am attending Colorado Christian University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I started my medical career as a Combat Medic in the US Army. Since then I have become a Registered Medical Assistant and a Registered Phlebotomy Technician. I now work in a dialysis clinic and soon will be a Certified Dialysis Technician too. I decided to become a nurse because I feel I am capable of achiving it. I also want to continue to climb the ladder until I am in a position that I am being challenged every day. I also want to live comfortably in these harder economic times. Growing up I was always an average student. I constantly search for a challenge and have a tendancy to get bored easily. Working in dialysis is fascinating, but I am limited in my scope of practice as a Technician. I have begun to watch the Charge Nurse and Physicians Assistant and I try learn and understand why they make the decisions that they do. I can’t make those decisions myself but I can continue my education to put myself at that level where I am being challenged to solve problems on a dally basis and I’m no so limited to a point where I’m getting stir crazy in my work. Lastly, I would like to be able to live comfortably. Times are hard and everyone just wants to be able to pay their bills and live without financial worry. I know the higher I climb and the harder I work, the better it will be for my family and me. I have dreams of traveling and exploring the world, and my daughter knowing that there’s more out there than just Grand Junction, Colorado and, unfortunately, money is what makes that happen. So I might as well work hard for it! My goals here a Colorado Christian University are pretty straightforward. Learn the skills I need, and excel at those skills so I can use them in a strong profession. Use these skills to grow and develop as well as provide for my family and be a positive role model to my daughter and other people out there that think they are just
