Charles Manson. This name is familiar, but who is he? Charles Manson is the man responsible for Sharon Tate’s murder along with several others. Mr. manson was the leader of his own cult. A cult that revolved around him and his beliefs.
The cult was referred to as the Manson family. It consisted of nine individuals starting with manson there was, charles Manson, charles “tex” watson, bobby Beausoleil, marry Brunner, susan Atkins, linda Kasabian, patricia krenwinkel, leslie van houten, and Steve Grogan. These were the members of the Manson family. The Mansons killed several people, most of which were famous in some way. There largest, most popular murder is the Tate murder. The that murderers was so well know because Sharon Tate was a famous singer who was 8 months pregnant at the time. Atkins stabbed her in the stomach 16 times, killing both Tate and the unborn baby. The murder took place at the home Sharon Tate and husband Roman Polanski were renting. Roman ( who was manson's true target ) was not there he was in London filming a movie. The only people at the house where Sharon Tate, abigail Folger (heiress to the Folgers coffee company), wojciech frykowski, and Jay Sebring. As a teen ager manson spent lots of time in prison for petty crimes. In the end he would spend half of his first thirty-two years behind bars. His last time behind bars was April 22nd, 1971 when he was put in prison for his crimes. Manson was originally going to receive the death penalty, but in 1972 the state of California repealed all death sentences prior to 1972. His sentence was converted to a life sentence. manson claimed his motivations were because his betrayal in the show
