Charlie boarded the bus that would soon take him away from his friends and take him to Florida to start a new life. As the bus started to move Charlie looked outside the window and remembered the things that happened to him during the experiments. He remembered Algernon and wondered if he would ultimately suffer the same fate.
The sun shined bright in Florida and the sky was blue. Charlie rapidly took off his coat for his skin was burning because of the intense Florida heat. Charlie walked up to a man sitting on a bench. “Excuse me, where can I find Mark’s cafe,” asked Charlie. “It’s gonna be straight ahead to your left,” answered the man. Charlie headed down the sidewalk to the cafe. Immediately, the man behind

Strauss,” Charlie said to himself in a rather quiet voice. Charlie went and got a piece of paper and started to write. “Dear Dr. Strauss, It happened. I never thought it would but it did. I’m smart again but I don’t know for how long. I am coming back to New York so we can figure out how it happened and how long it would last. Sincerely, Charlie Gordon.” “By the time Dr. Strauss receives my letter I would already be in New York,” stated Charlie to himself. Without a second thought Charlie left to the bus station and bought a ticket for the next bus to New York. Charlie had to find out if his intelligence is permanent and if it would ultimately kill him.
It was dark and cold. The bus finally made it to New York. Charlie headed straight to his old house. Everything was just how he left it. He went to the backyard. There were flowers on Algernon’s grave. The rain started pour as Charlie headed inside. He fell onto his bed and fell to sleep. As the water hit the widows he tossed and turned thinking about if he would die just like Algernon did.
Charlie went inside the lab where Dr. Strauss told him to meet him. There he was sitting in a red chair.
“Charlie,” he spoke “I got your letter.” He looked odd. As if he had been held at gunpoint. He had a guilty look on his

“When we were testing Algernon his intelligence dropped,”he uttered “But then he returned to normal.
“Why didn't you tell anybody about his decline in intelligence,”questioned Charlie.
“Because we thought it was a natural side effect,” the said with a guilty expression on his face.
“Will I die like Algernon did,” asked Charlie.
“I don't know Charlie,” he responded “but we should find out. Charlie and Dr. Strauss spent hours researching Charlie's mind. Before they knew it, the sky was dark and they had found nothing.
Charlie's head started to burn. It felt as if his head was being burned from the inside. The pain soon went away but Charlie knew that the pain would come back. Charlie, once again, meet up with Dr. Strauss.
“I'm sorry Charlie,” said Dr. Strauss “We didn't find anything.”
“We don’t know how long your mind will last,” he stated. All of a sudden Charlie collapsed. His body hit the floor harder than a rock hitting a stone wall. Then Charlie's mind went blank.
Charlie awoke in a hospital where he had wires connected to his head. Dr. Strauss was next to him.
“I'm sorry Charlie,” he uttered “there is nothing I can do.”
“Your brain cannot handle this much intelligence,” he
