Child abuse is a major issue, we can fix this issue by people realizing the causes, symptoms and after effect. As of 2015, 2,397 children are impacted by child abuse and neglect in the state of Indiana. The year of 1962 child protection became an organization. “5 children die every day as a result of child abuse or neglect.” Even though there are several organizations to stop child abuse, not all cases can be stopped and not all cases are reported.
There are several types of child abuse, People don’t realize it’s not just hitting your kid that is considered child abuse. There is Physical, Sexual, Verbal, Emotional,Psychological and Neglect. Physical abuse, Sexual abuse, Emotional and Psychological abuse, and Neglect. Each of them has different signs and effects. For example signs of a Sexual abuse case include, “Acting out in an inappropriate sexual way with toys or objects, Nightmares, sleeping problems, Becoming withdrawn or very clingy, Becoming unusually secretive, Sudden unexplained personality changes, mood swings and seeming insecure, Regressing to younger behaviours, Unaccountable fear of particular places or people, Outburst of anger, Changes in eating habits, New adult words for body parts and no obvious source, Talk of a new, older friend and unexplained money or gifts, Self-harm, Physical signs, such as, unexplained soreness or bruises around genitals or mouth, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, Running away, Not wanting to be alone with a particular child or young person.” There are several signs, but most of the signs of sexual abuse are a lot alike with other signs to other cases of abuse.
