Dave Pelzer once said, “Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun, not living in the darkness of the soul.” So what exactly is this nightmare? None other than child abuse. When someone is offending a kid, that aggressor is purposely hurting one. Wrongdoing in this manner is when a tot is a victim of aggression by an adult. “Today, more than 27,000 younglings are reported to have been abused” (“Eleven Facts About Child Abuse”,2016). Hurting the juvenile in the Victorian Era involved adolescents being neglected as harmed in emotional and physical ways. Although that is now true in the present, the issue has been considered more and there are ways to get help, like calling a hotline or contacting a trusted adult.

Child abuse is a lot different today than it was in the Victorian Era, in that physical and emotional outrage is managed better now. Back in the victorian era, maltreating a youngster was an issue where kids did not have the ability to go to the counselor and talk about what was happening. One lady named Margaret had a wonderful husband, until he started demanding the woman and her youth what to do, what to wear, and made her tell her babies to straighten up, even though the innocent kids behaved wonderfully. Luckily, she received help from a hotline that dealt with delinquency, called NSPCC. "The NSPCC’s work with my children gave them the light back behind their eyes," (NSPCC, 2017).
Tykes were neglected and harmed emotionally and physically in the Victorian Era, and that is still the case today, although nowadays, kids have the can speak up against their ill-treater, whether using a hotline or contacting a trusted adult. So the next time one is walking around bored, or was scolded for getting in trouble, that person should think about how lucky they are to live in a safe environment today, with a solution to being harmed as a kiddie.
