With the development of society, people pay more attention on the early childhood education than ever. It is noted that the knowledge, practices, and experiences that people have in their early years play a significant role in their further academic performance and social life (SAGE, 2002 & Skarda, 2014). Therefore, the behaviour and teaching of early childhood educators are vital, due to the fact that it could influence children’s learning and development significantly (Skarda, 2014). In this writing, the roles of early childhood teachers will be listed and explained clearly below. Also, this writing will provide some examples which could be used in the different age ranges with the supports of relevant theories.

Specifically, it means that after the activity like building a sandpile, educators could come up with some questions, such as ‘Is there any different shape you can make by using these sand?’ or ‘Why do you think the sandpile will not collapse?’ to let children think deeply. It is noted that the levels of difficulties mainly depend on the age levels that the children are in, because if the question is too challenging or too easy for the children at that range, children tend to feel rough or boring and then give up. This role is suitable for working with children who are mature enough to do the self-check and demand for different levels of challenging practices, such as the age between 4 to 8 (SAGE, 2002). According to Dr. Benjamin Bloom (cited in SAGE, 2002), the creator of Bloom’s Taxonomy which highlights the thinking skills, asking questions to children helps them think deeply, which contributes to their cognitive development and extensive thinking skills. As a further early childhood educator, I have to realize that even though it might be tough to learn, practice and perform every roles, it is a compulsory responsibility for an educator to do so. Also, I need to learn when and where is the appropriate time and place to perform each role. And for different children, based on their ability and needs, as an educator, I should play various roles to meet their requirements and needs, which contributes to promotion of their learning and
