This essay will aim to explore the impact that policy can have on children 's wellbeing. It will consider societal concepts of childhood and how these might have influence on legislation and policy today. This will be explored by looking specifically at safeguarding children. Throughout this essay I will explain Legislation within the legal system and how to relates to the chosen subject.
In order to explore this, it is important to first look at social policy for children and the importance of the legislation that underpins it.
Social policy is explained as an area of activity decided upon and applied by the government (Blakemore, K. 2013), this combines sociology, politics and economics and is made up of a wide variety of decisions to address the problems of individual wellbeing, social welfare and social justice. Social policy and the welfare services are a key role in keeping children safe and protected and therefore children rely greatly on these for their present and future security, safety and well being (Ridge, ND.).
