The imagination is an unexplainable phenomenon, especially as a child. An adolescent mind flourishes and conjures up so many crazy conspiracies. I remember as a child living smack dab in the center of what everybody knows as the dairy capital of the United States: Wisconsin. Everywhere you go you pass by countless farms with so many different types of cows, black, tan, white, spotted and in particular brown cows. Rumor had it amongst the five year olds at Tullar Elementary School that brown cows didn’t produce ordinary white milk, they made chocolate milk instead. Dairy farms throughout the United States house millions of cattle, over 1.7 million in Wisconsin alone. The production of dairy products as whole has created a mass industry nation wide. Chocolate milk however is under attack. Many pro-natural health advocates are pushing to eliminate milk altogether. Personally, the idea that milk could potentially be wiped from the shelves is horrific. I understand that a cow’s milk, meant for a feeding calf may not be a natural source of nutrients for the human body but that does not convey the message that it is harmful. Chocolate milk and white milk have migrated their way into everyday life in the United States. The concept of erasing milk may not seem so bad at first glance but the effects are outstanding. A world without milk would be drastically different. Our main breakfast option would be completely wiped out and many people would suffer as a result. By demolishing the milk industry, the world would have major consequences for not only the many people employed by dairy farms but without dairy there is a potential of the downfall of the cereal industry and the coffee creamer industry. The new fad is that chocolate milk much like Gatorade or Powerade is a great after workout booster for calories. As an avid athlete myself I am very supportive of new discoveries in the world of fitness. When reaching my goals and staying active in my sport I drain a good amount of energy and calories that an energy boosting workout drink could restore. The thought of completing an exhausting practice and relying on chocolate milk to regenerate my energy is exciting. Many people much like myself love the taste of chocolate milk on their palette and would be thrilled to promote it as a workout necessity. If you think about the fake products and sugars put into gatorade, nobody would knowingly volunteer to put that into their body. Chocolate milk is a natural made product with milk from cows and beans from a cocoa plant. The benefits of chocolate milk are endless; it improves performance, boosts muscle growth and rehydrates your body, not to mention it tastes delicious.
