Heavy winds, cold winds, strong precipitation. This is what Christopher McCandless was faced with once he entered the wilderness. Into the wild is based on the adventure on witch that Chris embarked on. Chris was 23 years old, born in Elsegundo, California on February 12th, 1968. Young Chris was out of high school when he decided to embark on this excursion to an unpredictable environment. Chris’s home life was not as some would call a “perfect family” leading some to believe this was one of the few reasons he decided to go precede on this mission to Alaska, while some could also agree with the fact that Chris was young and wanted a little bit of adventure, he wanted to try and get away from all of the materialistic things in life …show more content…

One of the problems he encountered was finding edible food and drinking water for his survival. Christopher had more books than gear for survival. Books were his escape from reality it seemed like; as he liked to read books based on adventure and stories based on the kind of adventure like he perused. one of those books he had contained information on plants explaining what could be safe to consume and what was deadly. On September 6th 1992, Chris’s body was founded by hunters on the northern boundary of Denali national park. According to The New Yorker, there was a note that was written by Chris himself on a page from a novel by Nikolai Gogol “ATTENTION POSSIBLE VISITORS. S.O.S. I NEED YOUR HELP. I AM INJURED, NEAR DEATH, AND TOO WEAK TO HIKE OUT OF HERE. I AM ALL ALONE, THIS IS NO JOKE. IN THE NAME OF GOD, PLEASE REMAIN TO SAVE ME.
