A true Christian perspective is one were the individual takes great pride in being self-sufficient. We as Christians should live our lives in a way that prepares and guides ourselves to being self-sufficient. We should stay away from sins that burden or distract us from promoting a stable and functioning life style. Drugs and alcohol, and lust cause the greatest damage to our social and economic stability. We need to take great pride in our work and being honest, hardworking, and wanting to set a good example. I see many people that have jobs and show up for work but they are unmotivated and lack ambition. Their view is to do as little as possible. Still it is the desire to use people to propagate your wants while lacking the motivation to achieve them through your own hard work and perseverance. Now understand that after being a person that has been addicted to alcohol and drugs that I have no room to talk. As I stated I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for the charity of my parents. Many people make mistakes and find themselves lost. They need people with a strong faith to be there to help them back. To have charity and the resources to guide them back on the path of righteousness. My previous addiction also shows me the similarities between materialism and greed and drugs and alcohol. That being at a certain point in time my desires became an obsession, which in turn becomes an addiction. This is to say that at a point my desires over takes rational thought.
