Religion plays a big part of my life. But with religion comes a lot of stereotype. I face many being a Christian. For an example, being judgmental. I cannot express how many times I hear Christians are judgmental. I understand that there are some Christians who use Christianity for moral comparison. However, you can’t find anything in the bible that leads us in anyway of being judgmental. Romans 2:1 explains to us that no man has the right to judge. It’s not Christians who judge. Its judgmental people who judge. Please don’t get the two mixed up. Another stereotype I face as a Christian, is that we are close-minded. We don’t see anything but Christianity. As a Christian, we should stand firm in what we believe, but that doesn’t mean we look down on anyone because they have a different religion. …show more content…

Nothing about Jesus was close-minded, therefore we are not taught to be. Just because I stand strong in my religion, does not mean that I do not support you in yours. I may not agree with it, but that doesn’t mean that I do not support you in it. When it comes to religion, there are prejudice & discrimination stereotyping. “Prejudice referes to the beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and attitudes some holds about a group” (Keirns 232). “Discrimination consists of actions against a group of people” (Keirns 232). These type of stereotyping could only be eliminated if people understood the differences in what a Christian really is and the beliefs behind it. Stereotypes come from the lack of acknowledge of the subject. People shouldn’t be afraid to be a Christian because the labels people put on them. The younger generation is living with misconceptions and wrong ideas regarding Christianity. Nobody should be afraid to choose a religion. It would be hard to eliminate the stereotyping on religion.
