5. Choose two religions and compare their similarities and differences. Christianity and Islam, 1st and 2nd world’s largest religion, are the most similar yet quit different religions. For example, both Christianity and Islam are monotheistic religions believing in one supreme creator and sustainer of the universe. Another example, of a similarity, is that both religions believe that Jesus will return on the last day. Even though both these religions are similar in belief they are still different. For example, Islam and Christianity believe in one supreme god, but Christianity believes in a trinity consisting of God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost that Muslims don’t believe in. For example, civilizations such as Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, and China were ruled with parochialism, with all of them requiring women to stay home and bear their children. Some, such as Ancient Greece and China, not only put the men ahead of women, but would go as far as to consider women inferior and deprive them of their education. Women in Ancient Greece had very few rights and had their lives controlled by their fathers, husbands, or male relatives their entire life. Ancient Egypt, unlike the other ancient civilizations, considered women equal to men. In fact, women were allowed to own property, borrow money, and were sometime even the pharaohs.
