Islam and Christianity are both similar and different. Both religions have different origins, beliefs, and ways in which they worship. These continue to impact the way Muslims and Christians worship and believe.

The origins of Islam and Christianity have major differences. Christianity was founded in Palestine in 30 AD by Jesus of Nazareth whose father was God. Peter became the leader of the Church after Jesus died (Christianity and Islam). The miracles Jesus performed reflected the power of God available to him. His teachings had a sharper social and political edge which angered the religious leaders who crucified him. Both religions view the Holy Trinity differently. Christianity views the Trinity as one substance in three Persons (Christianity and Islam). According to John 1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...and the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us..." (The Bible). Christians state that God is one Lord in three Persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit which is stated in Matthew 28:19--"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Islam vs Christianity, The Bible). Islam believes that Allah is one substance in one person and that the Christian God is three gods-the Father, Mother, and Son (Christianity and Islam, Islam vs Christianity). Surah 5:116 states "And when Allah wills at; O Isa son of Marium did you say to men, Tae me and my mother for two gods besides Allah, he will say: Glory be to Three, it did not befit me that I should say what I had not right to (say)..." After Adam and Eve committed original sin, everyone was born with Original Sin and their nature was to turn towards evil. Islam believes that the nature of humans was equally both good and evil (Christianity and Islam). If one does good deeds, they will go to an eternal heaven, and if they do bad things they will go to an eternal hell as believed in Christianity. Eternal paradise or hell is believed in by Islam depending on what type of deeds one does in their lifetime (Christianity and Islam). Christians believe that salvation is a free gift and one must accept it because of their free will; whereas, Muslims believe that salvation is based on works, worship to Allah should be compelled by force if necessary, and who is saved is the decision of Allah (Islam vs Christianity). The moral values of Christians are forgiveness, especially when asked by another in sincerity; generosity, and devotion to the poor and vulnerable in the community (Montville).
