Islam and Christianity are two of the three main religions in the world with Judaism. However, like all religions, there are many differences and major issues between the two.
Islam is one of the most popular religions in the world, specifically the middle east. Its origin began when Muhammad, who was praying in a cave in 610 CE, was given the Qur’an by an angel named Gabriel. He gaved Muhammad a holy book called the Qur’an. The Qur’an was written years before Muhammad was born. Muhammad then began to spread Islam in Saudi Arabia until his death on June 5, 632 CE. Afterwards controversy began as who would take over Muhammad’s place. This would cause Islam to be split into two: Sunni and Shia. Shias believe that his cousin should takeover his place, but the government agreed with the Sunnis on the four Rightfully Guided Caliphs. Its origin began 2000 years ago in Judea, now known as Israel. It focuses on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the son of God. He began his ministry at age 30. He then spent three years teaching and healing people. He stated that he spoke in authority with God, which angered religious Palestinian officials and handed him over to the Roman authorities where he was tried and sentenced to death by crucifixion. However the next day, many people reported that the body had disappeared from the tomb. He then appeared alive and a few days later, he went to heaven.
The major beliefs of Islam comes from the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam. They call their God Allah. Some of the beliefs are the Five Pillars of Islam. The five are Faith, Prayer, Charity, Fasting, and pilgrimage to Mecca. Another is that they would submit to the will of God to gain paradise after death. A place of worship is the Kaaba, located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The Kaaba is special to them because it is in the center of Mecca, the place of origin of
