For as long as history has been documented, religion has been a recurring theme amongst civilizations. Usually used as a way to explain the natural word, it comes in many different variations. Christianity and Islam are two of the world’s largest religions, different in many ways but also bearing some similarities. Both religions are monotheistic (believing in one god), but worship different gods with different circumstances and times. Each respective faith has its own views and ways of life, including art, literature and the afterlife. Muslims and Christians alike love and value their God, yet have very different ways of showing it. In order to handle it, the hands must be washed and the handler must be a practicing Muslim. When not being read from, the Qur’an must be closed and placed in a cleanly, respectable place and never on the floor or in a bathroom. On the contrary, the Bible, the holy book of Christianity, comes with no rules or guidelines for handling or reciting from it. Anyone, including those of other or no faith, may read from and listen to the Bible. In each respective book, references to the life of Jesus are made, although Islam defines him as a prophet of Allah, akin to Moses, and reject his divinity. (“...Then Allah will say: 'Jesus, the son of Mary, did you ever say to mankind: ‘Worship me and my mother as gods beside Allah?'" [Koran 5:114]) The Bible teaches Jesus is the son of God, and is even referred to as God Himself. ("He was God manifest in the flesh" [1 Timothy 3:16]) Other contrasting teachings include the Qur’an’s stance on war: "Make war on them until idolatry is no more and Allah's religion reigns supreme." (Koran 8:37) versus the Bible’s view: "...murders... they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:21). It is a requirement by the Qur’an for practicing Muslim’s to fast, pray and worship, while the Bible suggests one should not feel obligated to do these things, but those who are truly devoted to Christ will want
