A prominent thematic throughout the novel, Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Patillo Beals is self-reliance. In many instances throughout the novel, Melba must be brave and is sometimes not able to rely on anyone else but herself. There are many figures in the novel that help her overcome obstacles but in many cases, she is forced to fight the battle on her own. One could imply that the tone of the novel is fearful because she is terrified in multiple occasions and is forced to overcome these challenges. The theme of self-reliance for Melba starts when she joins Central High.
And she felt fear because she never heard a man cried, worse being
Fear. You hear it all the time. And we can experience the sudden emotion in our daily lives. Any time of day there can be Fear: when watching a scary movie, getting lost in an amusement park, or being alone in the dark. But in this novel, fear takes on a whole other meaning.
Would you fight through all obstacles to accomplish a test determining your life? Or would you crumble under the pressure? In The Testing trilogy, there are many characters that have multiple different obstacles to face during the trilogy. Cia has had many obstacles for example when she had to figure out who to trust and who to rely on. My theme that i find is very common in the testing trilogy is that there will be many obstacles to overcome in life.

How did Eva Peron’s political image impact argentine society during the 40s and 50s? Evita was a political figure who was looked up to and admired by the people of Buenos Aires. She was more than the first lady of Argentina. She spoke up for the people who didn’t have much of a voice in society. Eva Peron was the girl who left Los Toldos to find a life in Buenos Aires, but Evita was who she grew into in Buenos Aires as the first lady.

One example includes, Sarah being frightened of how her past experiences will haunt her in the future. In the book, Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, Sarah has faced harsh problems ever since she was little and hiding her emotions have just been apart of coping through them. “‘She [Sarah] hasn’t responded to much, though her doctor says she has all the proper physical reactions’” (Crutcher 9). Here, Sarah is struggling to have reactions while in the hospital.

In fact, she discovered that she had the power to create her own truth, and it could have a huge impact.
She shows her vulnerability side with no question. She does not make up her feelings because she manually writes about them. This shows accuracy. While finishing her article she says, “And until we do something to prevent that, we have made peace with being victims of fear ourselves” (Lange,2018). I identified with her soul-shaking experience when she profoundly realized, “It is a strange feeling to grow up defining yourself as something when you don’t know if that something is actually true.” I struggled in an introductory composition course at Virginia State University (VSU), and after giving each assignment my all, still
