Introduction/Hook/Lead

Jace from the book city of bones is a perfect example of an archetypal hero. This can be proven by the fact that he follows all steps in the 8 elements of of hero’s characteristics. He mostly follows the steps to a mighty warrior, unusual birth circumstances, and his epic quest. A little about Jace is that he’s a shadow hunter who kills these demons that are called downworlders throughout the book. There’s is also a girl named clary, and she’s also a shadow hunter. My first reason that jace is an archetypal hero is mighty warrior. Starting off he is a mighty warrior when he saves Simon who is clary’s friend from vampires who took him, and they threatened to kill him. Jace is like a protector or clary so he keeps her safe from a giant that attacks them at clary’s apartment. At the end of chapter 19 a shadow hunter named valentine takes jace than throughout chapter 23 it’s talks about the past about who jaces’s real father is, and that is valentine. Towards the end of chapter 23 jace realize’s that valentine might be his biological father, but he wasn’t a father to jace becasue valentine abandoned him. Jace ended up pushing valentine through a portal to a different country called Idris a home for shadow hunters. Jace said to valentine ‘“that’s not my name,” he said. “My name is Jace wayland.”( pg. 456) …show more content…

Jace was born in Idris which is a place for only shadow hunters, and no regular human can see at on a map even if they go over it. Idris is only visibly to shadow hunters. Jace is a shadow hunter like Idris Jace can’t be seen by regular humans either. The only way you can see a shadow hunter is if you are one or you understand what they are. Jace and clary were talking about Idris and clary said to jace “I take it you’ve been there. To Idris I mean.” Jace replies with “I grew up
