483 Words2 Pages

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Carla Testani for a judicial appointment to the Third Circuit Court in Wayne County. As one of Carla’s partners at Cummings, McClorey, Davis & Acho, PLC, I have had the opportunity to work closely with her and I know that she would make an outstanding judge. I can attest to the fact that Carla is highly intelligent, ethical and an experienced civil litigator. While these characteristics are certainly prerequisites to becoming a judge, I would like to take the opportunity to share with you some of Carla’s other great qualities that you will not find in her resume and I believe truly separate her from the other candidates for this position.

As a practicing litigator, I routinely see the importance of how a judge treats attorneys, litigants, staff and other members of the public. Carla is well respected by all of the attorneys in our firm, opposing counsel, the bench and her clients. While Carla is well liked, she is not afraid to make difficult decisions and remains composed under pressure. In short, she possess all of the attributes that are necessary to command respect from attorneys and litigants.

• Philosophy: Carla has been actively involved in the Wayne County Republican Party for a number of years. I have no doubt that she would be a rule of law judge that strictly interprets the law and does not attempt to legislate from the bench. She understands the needs for consistency as this is what provides attorneys and litigants with faith in our judicial system.

In closing, while it would truly be a great loss to our firm if you were to appoint Carla to the bench, it would certainly be a tremendous gain for all of the residents of Wayne County. It has been a pleasure and honor for me to work beside such a tremendous person and I know that the other judges in Wayne County would feel the same way.
